Walk and Podcast

A couple of thoughts after a walk while listening to different podcasts: No Stupid Questions and The Assignment.

In No Stupid Questions, they were talking about wisdom and trying to figure out if it comes with age and experience. I think they forgot the reflection part. We can have age and experience, but without reflection, we may not get wisdom, and some younger individuals can achieve wisdom with less age and experience because they reflect on their experiences.

In The Assignment, they are talking about dating apps, and one thought as I listened was that although both in an app and in life we can try to curate how we will show up for the other person, there is a difference in the time we spend doing that. You can plan and retake a picture or write a profile for a time, but you can only plan so much for how you will appear to the other person in an in-person situation. Events will unfold that will lead you to react at the moment, and that will give more clues to the other person of who you are, not who you want to be perceived as.

The other thing they mentioned was the portrayal of love in romantic movies or romantic comedies. I always wonder if there would be a brave enough producer or director to make a movie with a real portrayal of love and not idealized. Can they not make that interesting instead of going for escapism or fantasy? Well, this last thought is less thought through, it seems … I'll need to organize my thoughts better on this later.
