Can we change the news to fight negativity bias?

The notion that bad news sells seems to be so pervasive in the media that all we hear is bad news back-to-back, with a few good or neutral news stories sprinkled in. Because we have a negativity bias, we need three times or more positive news to counter that. How about changing the model so that for every negative news story on a topic (e.g., politics), three or more positive news stories about it should be reported immediately afterward?

How would that change people’s mood or levels of depression or anxiety in the population? I wonder …
